Custom Closets

Tuesday's Design Tips!

Custom closets are just about everyone's dream; with the exception of cost. Below are a few ways you can get a customized closet for less than what it would cost to hire out for the service...it's just going to take a little bit of elbow grease and time on your part.

Many DIY stores such as The Home Depot, Lowe's, IKEA, and even websites such as Wayfair offer products to either get the pieces you can add to your closet or the entire closet system itself.

Then there is the in-between products such as Elfa. The container store offers Elfa products that can either be hired out completely from design to install or simply pop onto there website and design it yourself, order it, and install it for less.

Then there are the extra accessories that help organize that closet. Items such as scarf, belt, and tie hangers, pant hangers that save space, baskets, and drawer and shelf organizers.

The possibilities are endless for how you can custom organize your closet on a budget.

A great way to start out is to make a list of your must haves (I say just your must haves, because trust me, you will find plenty of the wants along with the needs when doing the research). Ensuring you have what you absolutely need first before filling in the fun additions is the best start.

Then start researching the different systems out there to reach what you want. If you need help to get going, Pinterest is an excellent source to start getting ideas; just be specific with wording (ie: walk in closet, master closet, children's reach-in closet systems, etc...).

So there's a good start! Please feel free to add to or share your finds/closets with me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nicolekayinteriors/
